RULE#1: Be comfortable

Make sure you are comfortable in your attire. If you have never worn a short skirt, a big date is not the best time to try it out! Don’t overdo the make-up either. You shouldn’t have to try too hard to please. Remember, a relationship will work only when you project your true self.

RULE#2: Don’t dominate the conversation

Don’t let the conversation become a monologue. Search for common grounds and discuss those. Make sure your date doesn’t get bored. Also, talking about yourself all the time is a bad idea. It might make you appear very self-centred.

RULE#3: Don’t gossip

Save the gossip for your friends. Bitching and back-biting are absolutely unacceptable on dates. Remember, every second creates an impression. Time would be more wisely spent in getting to know him.

RULE#4: Avoid discussing past relationships

The reason you are with this guy is that you are over the heartbreak and misery of the past. As far as possible, try not to bring up your ex, either to appreciate or to degrade. Appreciating your ex-boyfriend may give your date the idea that you still harbour feelings for him.

RULE#5: Keep him guessing

If there is one thing that can keep a man captivated, its an element of mystery. Open books are boring. Don’t reveal everything about yourself, let him figure you out for himself.

RULE#6: Compliment him

Guys love that! Tell him how much blue suits him, or how much you like his new perfume. The trick is to notice things. Outright lies can be very easily caught. And don’t overdo the compliments, or he might think that he has you eating right out of his hand!

RULE#7: Give him space

When in a relationship, don’t suffocate your guy. Give him his freedom and make sure you get yours. You might be together but you are still two different people with lives of your own. Set limits beforehand so that neither of you trespasses the other’s personal space or time.

RULE#8: Find out what he wants

You desire the guy and wish to rope him permanently? Then find out what he wants from his ideal woman. See if you are or can be like that. If yes, then get working on it! Nothing pleases a guy more than a female TRYING to please him! It is the highest form of flattery.
